During initial setup, Ledger Live generates a 24-word recovery phrase (also called a seed phrase) that serves as a master backup for all your accounts. You must write this phrase down on the recovery sheet provided and store it in a secure location—never digitally. If you lose your device or it gets damaged, this recovery phrase allows you to restore all your accounts and assets on any Ledger device. Never share this phrase with anyone.

Ledger Live itself is completely free to download and use. However, when you perform transactions (sending, receiving, swapping), you'll pay standard blockchain network fees (gas fees) which vary depending on network congestion and the blockchain you're using. When using the built-in exchange feature, a small service fee is applied to cover liquidity providers and partners. All fees are transparently displayed before you confirm any transaction.

Staking rewards vary by network but typically range from 4% to 20% APY depending on the cryptocurrency.
